Top Chef's TV stars will bring reality show to life for cruise passengers next April

Skift Take

There had better be an extended fire safety session prior this 5-day cruise that plans on letting passenger participate in cook-offs and offers live demonstrations from the reality stars.

Cruises that cater to foodies, like Food Network at Sea, are nothing new. Nor are those that feature reality television stars, like Cruising With the Stars. A mash-up of the two genres, Top Chef: The Cruise, will feature hosts of the popular reality competition show, Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, and former “cheftestants” along with 2,000 passengers. Tickets for the five-day cruise on Celebrity Constellation, departing from Miami in April 2013 and making stops in Key West, Fla., and Cozumel, Mexico, go on sale Aug. 16.

Ellen Stone, Bravo’s senior vice president of marketing, said the “Top Chef”-sponsored cruise was inspired by the show’s mobile tours, in which contestants travel to cities across the United States after a season ends.
