Indian travel site Yatra considers IPO in the US

Skift Take

Booking agent Yatra.com recently acquired several similar travel sites and now pines for the boost of credibility that a public listing in the US can provide, much likes its larger competitor MakeMyTrip.

One of the largest Indian online travel/booking service Yatra.com is contemplating an IPO in U.S. by next year; it recently made news for buying Travelguru.com from Expedia, and is keen on more acquisitions. An IPO is likely to help the company grow its business inorganically in the hotel and holidays space, which are the focus areas for industry leader MakeMyTrip’s growth in the past two years.

Yatra would be following MakeMyTrip, which had a successful listing on the Nasdaq exchange in the US in August 2010.
