TripAdvisor wants to establish itself as the leading restaurant reservations platform in Europe before OpenTable gets around to showing up in earnest.

TripAdvisor accelerated its push to try to dominate the market for online restaurant reservations in Europe with the acquisition of Dutch restaurant review site Iens, including its reservations platform Seatme, according to published reports.

The acquisition, which Dutch media reported to be in the $11 million range, gives TripAdvisor a leading restaurant reservations review site and platform in the Netherlands following its 2014 acquisition of Lafourchette (The Fork), which is said to be the leader in France and Spain.

Yelp owns a platform called Seatme, but Seatme in the Netherlands is a different company and is part of Iens, or iens.

Iens has about 20,000 restaurant reviews, according to the published reports, and they would supplement TripAdvisor’s own larger restaurant review portfolio.
