Booking Boost at Expedia Leads to 52% Earnings Increase in Q2

Online travel agency Expedia reported second quarter earnings today that were a 52% increase over the same period last year.

Expedia reported a profit of $137.6 million on $1.49 billion in revenue compared to last year’s quarterly earnings of $90.5 million on $1.21 billion. Expedia says that gross bookings during the quarter rose 28% to $13.05 billion.

The $1.03 cents a share that Expedia reported compared favorably to the 76 cents a share analysts had forecast.
