Is any hotel merger or acquisition ever simple, or swift? In this case, most definitely not. Given the board members’ often contentious history with each other and the company’s direction, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether this new offer from “Bidder V” will prove to be superior than the offer from Sam Nazarian’s SBE.

Can these two companies--one with a somewhat questionable track record and the other, whose star has lost its luster--work together to relive their glory days? We'll see.

While the events may translate into slightly higher room rales and food and drink revenue, the real opportunity is for Morgans to establish itself as the hospitality brand for creators and entrepreneurs.

The partnership is a win for Morgans that gives it access to Vice's coveted viewer base as well as turning its properties into a place both guests and locals want be. If Morgans views events like these as the next step in differentiation, it's likely other hotels will follow.

Morgans is retooling its brand for the Creative Class living in a post-recession world, orchestrated by a new crew of creative minds rallying around the reworked "Mondrian is a hotel for creators" message.
