Colombia's Avianca has ambitious plans for its post-bankruptcy future, not least of which is transforming itself into a low-cost carrier from a traditional full-service airline. But the sector has become crowded in Latin America, with the likes of Volaris, JetSmart, and Viva Air Colombia baying at the door to Avianca's home turf.
