Even those that hate American's new look will love what's inside. According to this profile, the wide-body jet features lie-flat seats, upgraded entertainment, and service that actually matches the airline’s extensive branding efforts.

Klout hasn't broken through as a promotional tool for travel brands, even though experiments with hotels and airline lounges have been done before. This is among the highest profile such deal, and will likely bring more social media love for American.

The precise cause of the problems hasn't been articulated, but American obviously needs to get this fixed promptly. This is potentially inconveniencing thousands of travelers, and will cost the airline in dollars and goodwill.

Rant or not, the new American Airlines will likely have to give some ground on its DCA slot-pair dominance.
