The Chicago O’Hare International Airport will be the first airport in the United States to implement Automated Passport Control, a new technology designed to expedite customs clearance, the Chicago Department of Aviation announced recently.
More details from U.S. Customs and Border Protection:
The system was first implemented for U.S.-bound aircraft from Vancouver’s airport. “Automated Passport Control does not require pre-registration, is easy to use and maintains the highest levels of protection when it comes to the handling of personal data or information. As a result, travelers will experience shorter wait times, less congestion, and faster processing.”
