La Quinta Hotels Will Now Text Guests When Rooms Are Ready

Skift Take

Newly public company La Quinta has been doing some innovative things, and it is a hotel chain that is in growth mode.

La Quinta, which previously allowed guests hold a room reservation for four hours with just a phone number, will now begin emailing or texting guests when their rooms are ready.

When guests book a room on LQ.com, they can specify a time window pertaining to their expected time of arrival, and whether they would like to receive a notification via email or text when the room is ready for habitation.

Then on the day of arrival, La Quinta pledges to email or text guests when their rooms are ready, saving the hassle of having to wait for the clean sheets.

The timeframe options are before noon, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., and after 10 p.m.

While individual properties have featured this, La Quinta calls this a hotel brand industry first.

Here's a La Quinta video explaining the new feature, which it calls Ready for You, and how the alerts should enable business travelers to become "profoundly productive:"
