Scapia won’t fight online travel agencies on price. Instead, this travel fintech is betting that everyday spending, loyalty rewards, and payments will determine where the next generation of travelers book trips.
India's online travel agencies compete on price. Scapia is competing on your credit card statement.
Bengaluru-based travel fintech Scapia’s model combines payments, rewards, and travel booking inside a closed ecosystem available only to its cardholders. Its core product is a co-branded credit card, which it issues through Indian banks, allowing customers to earn travel rewards through everyday spending and redeem them on Scapia's own booking platform.
Scapia recently raised $63 million, bringing total funding to $135 million, and tripling its valuation to over $539 million.
Access to Scapia’s travel marketplace, which includes flights, hotels, trains, buses, visa services, and travel merchandise, is closed to non-cardholders. The card carries zero foreign exchange markup, airport privileges beyond traditional lounge access, and the option to convert travel bookings into three-month no-cost installments.
