Canadian Visits to the U.S. Dropped Again in March — 14-Month Streak

A slowing decline is not the same as a recovery, and the U.S. travel industry has no clear path to winning Canadian travelers back.

March was a repeat of the first two months of this year and most of 2025 — another drop in travel from Canada to the U.S. But the decline slowed.

The number of Canadian residents returning from the U.S. by car fell 4.5%, according to figures released by Statistics Canada on Monday. Same-day vehicle trips typically account for almost half of travel by Canadians to the U.S.

It was the 14th straight month of declines in Canadian-resident return trips from the U.S. by automobile. But March's drop was substantially lo
