A ban on these 12 countries doesn’t have a big direct impact on U.S. travel - Skift Research estimates it’s just 91,000 visitors. But it’s another move that makes the U.S. a less welcoming destination.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday that would "fully restrict" entry into the U.S. of nationals from 12 countries, and partially restrict entry to those from seven others.
The countries facing the most severe restrictions are: Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
The order is set to take effect on June 9.
Entry will be limited to those from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
