Although these hotels are great to dream about, we preferred the TripAdvisor's dirtiest hotels list that at least made us appreciate our hotel choice.

TripAdvisor kickstarted the new year with a list the 10 top rated hotels for 2014.The list is an impressive set of properties from the blue seas of the Maldives to shores of Mexico.
For a few thousand dollars a night, guests are exposed to striking sunsets, very expensive spa treatments, and meals prepared by top-rated chefs. It’s not very surprising that such properties would rise to the top of TripAdvisor’s ranks.
