Budget Travel magazine gets a new editor while struggling to stay afloat

Skift Take

Telling takes over a publication that has fought tooth and nail to survive since being offloaded to and then under-funded by Fletcher Asset Management almost three years ago. Will it manage to rise above its dwindling revenue and late payments?

Gillian Telling, a past editor-in-chief of the Lowell Thomas Award-winning Front Desk New York (a Modern Luxury-published upscale visitor's guidebook), moved to the same capacity at Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel on Sept. 28.

Telling's other travel-magazine credits include Jetsetter and Hemispheres, and she has also received attention as Maxim's sex columnist and the 2010 author of Dirty Girls (Sourcebooks).
