Aerolineas Argentinas becomes SkyTeam’s first South American member

SkyTeam is the second largest airline alliance, but can now claim that it's the first to offer non-stop flights from South America to Australia.

Argentina’s national carrier, Aerolineas Argentinas, has joined the SkyTeam alliance.

The airline becomes SkyTeam’s 18th member and its first in South America. Its membership will add 40 new destinations to the SkyTeam network.

Aerolineas Argentinas currently operates services to 52 destinations in 14 countries, including direct flights to Sydney. This means that for the first time, SkyTeam can now offer non-stop flights between South America and Australia as part its Round the World itinerary.
