Visit Seattle is positioning itself as a broker of innovation, versus a sales conduit for meeting space, by introducing meeting planners nationwide to some of the world's most advanced companies.

Delta is once more doubling down in its campaign to woo Seattle customers.

Tourism bureaus like Visit Seattle have an opportunity to attract a new user base with episodic video-content campaigns and video testimonials. Deciding that is the easy part. Funding is a little more challenging. The hardest part is correct place branding and then muzzling the marketers so the real content people can do their thing.

Some of these changes are more obvious, but bringing PR into paid advertising is an interesting insight that other destinations likely see happening too.

Destinations should be heavily investing in real-time social engagement to build brand awareness, improve visitors' experiences, and share meaningful content that fuels inspiration. Destinations that don't are missing out.

Just think how the security gridlock would have been exacerbated had the sequestration cuts been fully implemented. Still, things ain't pretty.
