Momondo officials are quick to point out that the Momondo Group is doing well, is seeking an investment, and that retaining strategic advisors is not a sign of weakness, but such a motivation is not out of the question when any company mulls strategic alternatives.

Seems like a small amount of buying anything substantial, if you see startup valuations these days. It may need a lot more if it wants to make a difference against tough competition.

The Momondo Group is in the early stages of pursuing a dual brand metasearch strategy with its Cheapflights and Momondo brands. Are they different enough from one another, and will they stand out sufficiently from their rivals to make a real go of it? Other players will be watching to see if any of this makes sense.

Online travel agencies, hotel booking sites and metasearch players in Russia will survive the turmoil in Ukraine and Crimea, but the ruble crisis will take its toll.
