Copenhagen named most livable city in Monocle's annual Quality of Life Survey

Skift Take

Monocle's list is a pleasant reminder that cities which are great for tourists -- New York City, London, Rome -- aren't always wonderful places to live.

Monocle magazine's annual Quality of Life Survey appears in the July/August issue, which hid hit newsstands today. This is the sixth time the London-based magazine has called out its favorite places to live and, as in the past, the list is a where's-where of cities that are making smart choices about development that make transportation, shopping, eating, and exploring easier for both residents and visitors.

This year Copenhagen comes in at number one. In a short film about the city, Monocle calls out the city's "confident present and eager future," and contains a record number of bicycles and al fresco dining per minute for a film about a Scandinavian city.
