Air France and Roll-Royce at a negotiation standstill over jet maintenance

Air France wants to buy Rolls-Royce engines for their 25 new Airbus jets, but are not willing to pay for the engine maker's long-term maintenance deal as they are eagerly developing their own support division.

Rolls-Royce, the British jet engine maker, is facing a direct challenge to its lucrative maintenance and support business from Air France-KLM, in a commercial tussle that is delaying the Franco-Dutch airline’s $6bn purchase of 25 Airbus passenger jets.

While neither the UK engineering group nor the airline would comment directly on negotiations, talks about how to break the impasse have been going on almost a year.
