Mitt Romney Turns Travel Blogger for New Medium Post
Skift Take
Mitt Romney added an unlikely role to his list of responsibilities Monday morning with a post on Medium describing his family’s recent trip through U.S. national parks.
In his role as tour guide, doting grandparent, and travel blogger, Romney forgoes logistics in favor of context describing his inspiration for the trip, his family’s connection to the region, and a few anecdotes about his five grandchildren that accompanied him and his wife.
As travel bloggers often do, Romney also posted many (14) photos of his trip.
In total, Romney, his wife and five grandchildren visited ten parks and hiked 50 miles. His outdoor adventure is actually part of growing multi-generational travel trend in the U.S.
A recent AAA survey found that 36 percent of respondents planned to take a trip with younger and older family members that year, and that outdoor activities were the most popular kind of trip.
Romney is actually well-versed in the U.S. travel economy having served on Marriott International’s board for more than 13 years, minus a short break to run for president in 2012.
