Marriott and Curator Execs Speak on Hotel Agility as Travelers Evolve

Big brands and independent hoteliers face common challenges despite being differentiated by their value offerings. Travellers are beginning to weigh in more emotion and wellness as part of their stays, and hotels think they can keep up through design.

Doing local in a more memorable way is becoming increasingly important for hotels. Marriott International VP of Design Aliya Khan and Curator Hotel & Resort Collection President Jennifer Barnwell discuss the rising demand for more lifestyle, capturing experiences through design and balancing renovations with changing consumer expectations.

Changing conversations on different brand value offerings are pivotal for creating individual personalities for brands through a psychographic lens. Combining words put forward by Brand teams and feedback from consumers to distill it into an experience through design is “part magic, part science,” Khan said.
