This geopolitical scientist notes that an awareness of history plays a huge role in any recovery from crisis. Asia has that advantage for the long-term view coming out of the pandemic.

Asian countries will learn the most and will respond with the greatest agility to this pandemic. That was the message from Parag Khanna, an author and geopolitical scientist, in his talk with Skift founder and CEO Rafat Ali at Skift Forum Asia. Khanna said it’s a false notion that authoritarian countries will do the best coming out of the crisis. “You don’t have to be authoritarian to control a pandemic,” he said. “You have to be transparent and competent.” The writeup of the session is here.
