Travel in 2020: The Four-Sided Collision in the Global Hospitality Sector

    The big faultline to watch over the next few years is this four-sided collision happening in the hospitality sector.

    Last month we released our big Skift Manifesto on the Future of Travel in 2020.

    This 25-page manifesto, released to coincide with our third launch anniversary, brings together a number of themes and lessons about the larger changes happening in consumer behavior — especially digital habits — and how they get reflected in travel.

    Among these themes we are tracking is the rapid change in the global hospitality sector, which includes traditional hotel companies, vacation rentals, and now newer non-traditional players like Airbnb. We have termed the big faultline as the four-sided collision in the hospitality sector and how it has the potential to change everything in one of the biggest sectors in travel.
