Infographic: Where and how Americans are traveling to taste the turkey this year

  • Skift Take
Americans can brace themselves for crowded highways and busy airports this week, but the good news is that travel is consistently more congested during Thanksgiving than the December holidays.

Today kicks off the busiest travel period of the year in the United States as millions of Americans get ready to travel by car, plane, train, or bus.

Thanksgiving day will be the most crowded day on the road, although Sunday is the busiest travel day for all other modes of transportation, according last year’s travel data compiled by America by Rail.

Online travel websites have debated the cheapest, least crowded, and quickest day to travel, but no matter how you toss it – every day is a busy day for the next week.

The infographic also lays out the ten most popular cities and how many travelers are on the go each day over the next week.
