South African Booking Site Acquires Social Startup Satisfly

  • Skift Take
With so many startups focusing on specific niches of the travel market, we will continue to see more acquisitions of small companies by small companies as competition consolidates.

South African flight booking site Travelstart today announced its acquisition of Hong Kong-based social intelligence company Satisfly for an undisclosed amount.

Satisfly, which uses social accounts to provide companies with insights into their customers’ habits and choices, has previously worked with Iberia and AirBaltic.

Travelstart plans to use the technology to implement social log-ins with the goal of discovering how customers interact with the site across various channels.

“Satisfly’s technology will allow us to make sense of our immense social data,” Travelstart founder Stephan Ekbergh said in a statement.

“We will know where our customers normally want to go even before they ask, giving us the ability to cut through the clutter and provide them with personalized offers.”

Travelstart launched in 1999 during which it time it shift its focus from Europe to African countries including South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.
