U.S. transportation officials say they recognize travelers often bring favorite food on holiday trips, but many items may not be carried on planes. The Transportation Security Administration, while acknowledging people like to bring items for holiday dinners, or to bring their favorites back home with them, cautioned travelers to consult its list of items that cannot be carried on planes.
The list includes cranberry sauce, cologne, creamy dips and spreads such as cheeses, peanut butter…gift baskets with food items such as salsa, jams and salad dressings.
“Passengers can bring pies and cakes through the airport security checkpoint, but please be advised that they are subject to additional screening,” the TSA said.
