EasyJet tells passengers headed to Madrid to stick to hand luggage unless they want to wait

EasyJet has asked its passengers to carry only hand luggage this weekend due to the ongoing strike of ground handling agents in Madrid.

Fliers departing for Madrid could experience delays of up to two hours waiting for baggage, as the ongoing strike by staff continues to cause some disruption to flights.

EasyJet has advised passengers flying to Madrid between Thursday, November 8 and Sunday, November 11, to review and minimise their baggage. Taking two smaller hand luggage bags into the cabin, instead of depositing a suitcase in the hold, could save travellers a wait of two hours. However, passengers should be aware that the liquids policy will continue to remain in force.

Although baggage disruption has so far been minimal, there are worries that increased numbers of passengers over the weekend may worsen the situation. The airline also added that there is “an increased risk that passenger bags may fail to connect to your flight.”
