WorldMate readies itinerary app for Windows tablets

  • Skift Take
WorldMate powers Blackberry Travel and has a very large set of Blackberry users. Given RIM’s woes, there’s nothing like hedging your bets with a new Windows RT app.

When the Microsoft Surface tablet and other tablets running the Windows RT operating system finally surface at the end of October, WorldMate will have an itinerary management app ready in the wings.

Itinerary management apps enable travelers to consolidate their reservations from various booking sites into a single itinerary, and WorldMate, which competes with TripIt and others, already has Blackberry, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone apps.

“We have built a Windows RT app for upcoming Windows-based tablets,” says spokesperson Adi Mansur. “It is in MS certification testing and will be available when the first Windows RT tablets launch.”

In addition to the standard, full itineraries and maps, the WorldMate RT app will enable users to view LinkedIn connections and Facebook friends near the trip location, Mansur says.
