Video: Geoffrey Kent on the Social Impact of Travel

  • Skift Take
Low-impact tours aren’t a modern luxury. They’ve been the key to successful tours in Africa for decades.

Geoffrey Kent at Skift Global Forum

Geoffrey Kent, founder and CEO of Abercrombie & Kent, spoke at the Skift Global Forum with Wendy Perrin about the socio-cultural impact of travel on communities.

Kent walked the audience through his career in tours, from his first motorcycle trip in Africa to the early days of the modern, hunting-free safari when he founded his company in 1962. Perrin gets Kent to share details of how he first worked with the Kenyan government to market tourism abroad and helped set the tone for other tour companies that sought to work more constructively with local communities.
