Uber Is Branching Out Into Christmas Tree Delivery in 10 Cities

The deliveries are stunts, but they’re also testing the waters for Uber’s expansion into on-demand services either in addition to or in replacement of their existing car hailing business.

Uber announced on its blog today that it was teaming up with Home Depot in ten U.S. cities to deliver Christmas trees on December 5.

Uber, which is a car-hailing app for Android and iOS devices, has a habit of delivering things that aren’t humans in order to draw attention to its services. Earlier this week, it delivered puppies in Taiwan, and it has experimented with kittens and ice cream in New York.

Tomorrow’s stunt is its biggest yet, but unlike puppies, kittens, and ice cream, there will be a fee for the trees. Uber will not be using its drivers’ cars for the promotion: Nobody wants sap in their back seats.
