British Airways will be featured in an upcoming documentary, which is expected to screen on the BBC in 2014.
A British Airways executive wrote in a FlyerTalk post early Thursday morning that the airline signed a contract for a three-part series to be created by Lion TV. The media company also produced a program on the airline’s long-haul fleet maintenance center last year.
A British Airways spokesperson confirmed the filming, but was unable to share any additional details about the project. BBC has not replied to Skift’s request for confirmation.
According to FlyerTalk user AW73, the BA executive, the three one-hour programs will cover topics including new aircraft, staff training, the airline’s Chinese routes, its New York operations, and the daily management of aircraft, crew, airports and customers.
The FlyerTalk post quotes Paul Marston, director of communications, as saying:
“This project gives us huge potential to show to a peak-time audience the professionalism, dedication and customer care that are at the heart of what we do every day.
A big television venture can never be risk-free, and we will be dependent on very many colleagues across the business to ensure it goes well. The filming timescale is tight, so we hope everyone who becomes involved will give the project their full support. This is the first major documentary about British Airways for a quarter of a century, so we want to make sure we make the most of the opportunity.”
