US Airways promoted distribution veteran John Gustafson to vice president of eCommerce, mobile and distribution based in part on his role in securing concessions in negotiations from online travel agencies.
Gustafson, who began his stint at US Airways in 2010, most previously was the airline’s managing director of eCommerce, mobile and distribution, and will continue to report to Andrew Nocella, senior vice president of marketing and planning.
The airline says Gustafson, who had previously worked for a dozen years at Northwest and Delta, was responsibile for US Airways’ mobile and distribution strategies, adding:
Through his negotiation of new agreements with online travel agencies, Gustafson delivered significant distribution cost savings to US Airways.
In addition, he initiated new distributions strategies, which has driven usairways.com channel share to an all-time high. The channel share improvements deliver millions of dollars in distribution cost savings while increasing the opportunity to drive incremental ancillary revenue.
That fee revenue, according to the airline, comes from Gogo Wi-Fi, Choice Seats, and the carrier’s iPhone app.
