FlyerTalk uses old-school social tools to help connect travelers in the real world

Or maybe you’ll be in the nabe of the Delta SkyClub at the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta airport on August 3 between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Gralistair, who has been a FlyerTalk member since 2008 and has authored 2,003 posts and uploaded 58 images, plans on being there if you are looking to pass the time between flights with a kindred spirit.

The meet-ups, initiated by the two FlyerTalk members, become possible through a new version of FlyerTalks’s FlightConnect tool and a just off-the-shelf LoungeConnect feature, both of which are in beta. You can also access the tools under the Members tab on the homepage.

The tools themselves aren’t overly social; there is bare bones information about the member extending the invite and there is little way to interact before the hoped-for get-together.

Still, the tools could make for some perhaps unanticipated great connections while getting from here to there. And if the meeting goes wrong? At least there’s security nearby.
