Skift Launches Gateway Series: Stories From Correspondents Embedded Around the World

  • Skift Take
Skift is getting even more local and global in our reporting with our new Gateway series, which includes news stories, insights, and analysis from our correspondents embedded around the world.

As we enter our calendar year five at Skift, our global ambitions are increasing. In addition to our expansion into Europe through London last year, we are now looking beyond.

Starting today we launch the Skift Gateway series, featuring original news and analysis from Skift correspondents embedded in Beijing, Singapore, soon-to-come Dubai, and cities in Latin America and Africa. Today, we kick off the series with a story from Beijing, Bombastic Rhetoric Won’t Crimp Travel Between China and U.S., about tourism prospects in 2017 from both the Chinese and U.S. perspectives in light of tensions between the U.S. president-elect and the leadership in Beijing.

We chose Gateway as the name for this series to symbolize how these articles might be viewed as an entry point into understanding the business of travel in these varied destinations.

From now on you can read all of our Gateway stories here.

Our Gateway correspondents won’t limit their coverage to one particular city but will interview people and companies in the wider region from their home base. We believe there is value in homegrown stories from the regions we illuminate.

Skift already has a team of full-time editors, reporters, and researchers in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Palo Alto, London, and Berlin, and they and our freelancers have brought our subscribers and other readers original stories and analysis from across Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and of course, North America.

That will continue, and we are ramping up staff hiring around the world in several areas.

You can start reading our coverage today right here and expect a lot more stories in the Gateway series from us on a regular basis in the coming days and weeks.

As far as we’re concerned — Qué chévere!
