The tours and activity sector has been one of the last within the travel industry to innovate; however, small changes are being made which could lead to necessary shifts in the next one to three years.

TrekkSoft, a Swiss Saas startup for tour and activity providers, today announced a $1.1 million fundraising round led by Redalpine Capital, the Innovation Fund of the Schwyzer Kantonalbank, and a group of independent investors.

The latest funding comes one year after a $800,000 round, bringing total raised to $2.6 million.

The B2B company offers tour and activity providers a web-based system to manage and sell their activities as well as an API that connects distribution partners to a live itinerary. Unlike Viator, it has no consumer-facing product.

“On the one hand the marketplaces need to encourage consumers to book online and on the other hand the technology providers like TrekkSoft need to ensure that the marketplaces have access to live-inventory making real time, in-destination bookings a reality,” TrekkSoft CEO Jon Fauver said in a statement.

The tours and activity sector started to receive more attention after TripAdvisor’s $200 million acquisition of Viator. TrekkSoft has raised the most of its B2B competitors, which include Xola, Rezgo and TourCMS.
