For Mobile Device Service at Airports, Verizon and AT&T Get the Highest Marks

  • Skift Take
Considering that so many travelers count on getting work done on their devices during airport waits, switching to a better provider could make a big difference for the locations looking to recruit more flyers from nearby airports.

In a test of mobile data performance at the 50 busiest airports in the U.S., Verizon and AT&T handily beat their two major competitors, Sprint and T-Mobile.

A new report by the data company RootMetrics details each carrier’s network service at those 50 airports, based on the four metrics: download and upload speed across various technologies, email performance, web and app performance, and network reliability.

At 19 airports, Verizon ranked highest on that evaluation system, and at 17, AT&T ranked highest. T-Mobile ruled at only one airport, and Sprint was the best carrier at exactly none.

The complete reports on all 50 airports are available through RootMetrics, here.
