More free Wi-Fi at airports coming, through ad-supported JiWire network

  • Skift Take
The free wifi across all parts of travel ecosystem is destiny, this is just one more evolution of it. Hotels are still behind on this, though.

JiWire, the location-based ad company that uses WiFi networks to locate users and deliver ads, has signed a deal with Advanced Wireless Group to provide free WiFi services in airports in the U.S. The deal will cover 293 million passengers annually and includes major hubs like San Francisco, Los Angeles International, Minneapolis and Baltimore- Washington.

JiWire has worked with a number of brands to deliver ads over their free WiFi-based ad network which has been in operation since 2009, including Google Play, Microsoft, Hyatt, Comcast, and British Airways. More details in joint release.
