The seven hour non-stop flight from Reykjavik to Anchorage and return will begin May 15, 2013, twice a week through mid-Sep 2013. Surely adventure tourists interested in one iced adventure to another, would find these flights useful, and boost tourism and development in both regions.
This makes it the 10th North American destination for Icelandair after Boston, New York-JFK, Seattle, and Denver, seasonal services from Washington, D.C., Minneapolis-St. Paul, Orlando Sanford, Halifax, and Toronto.
Meanwhile, Icelandair’s partner, Alaska Airlines, will provide connections to Icelandair flights through Anchorage. This partnership will give travelers from the surrounding areas more choices to Europe while increasing jobs and revenue for the state, the company hopes.
