  • Skift Take
Everything about the former Asian republics of the Soviet Union is complicated, but it seems, at least, that Georgia is seeing enough growth to justify construction of new hotel rooms in recent years.

The number of hotel rooms in Georgia has increased by 50 percent since 2009.

According to Iliani Business reviews and Georgian edition of Forbes, the number of tourists has almost doubled, and hotel rooms increased by 50 percent since 2009.

Expert George Abashishvili noted that Georgia’s hospitality sector is ready to serve more tourists, as the intensive construction of new hotels in different regions of Georgia is being carried out. Abashishvili noted that both the growing infrastructure of this area and a simplified visa regime established with many countries promotes the increase of tourist flow.

Head of the Agency for Tourism Maya Sidamonidze said the number of Russian tourists has increased by 3 times after the unilaterally simplification of visa regime with Russia.
