In January, Skift published a Megatrend about the hotel of the future .
And while some people might envision the hotel of the future as one helmed by robots, or something out of “The Jetsons,” the truth is that, in some ways, that hotel is already here.
Building on the concept of a mixed-use development, Skift explored a new version of “mixed use 2.0,” where all the many, multi-faceted components of a hotel, as well as commercial units — from retail and restaurants to co-working and co-living — all come together in a truly seamless experience.
It’s the idea of tomorrow’s hotels being attuned to the many needs that we as consumers have today, and will continue to have tomorrow, especially as the nature of our interactions with the world around us are increasingly shaped by technology, and especially, our smartphones.
