2013, when all the numbers come in, will turn out to have a been good year for the global tourism economy, that much we know. 2012 was the first year global tourist traffic crossed the one billion mark, and 2013 will be better as most economies across the world are in better shape now than they were a year ago.
Usually the World Travel and Tourism Council or UNWTO does the global count of yearly tourism numbers from across the world, but those numbers generally come out a few months after the fact.
We’ve decided to get a jump on the WTTC, and compile our own numbers based on news reports about tourism arrivals from various countries, states, and cities across the world.
So here it goes. It is still very early in 2014 hence only a few regions have started reporting on their 2013 numbers. This list below will expand, change, and update into the days and weeks of 2014.
