Check out when you want, not at annoying 11 am deadline, says Aussie boutique chain

A promotion such as this is only really plausible at a small boutique level, but could take off as an industry trend if it proves successful for the free spirited guest.

Early checkouts are so “uncool,” claims the Art Series hotel group in Melbourne, Australia.

After finding that an 11 AM checkout was among travelers’ biggest pet peeve, Art Series CEO Will Deague decided to launch a one-month promotion during which guests could extend their stay for free.

The Overstay Checkout allows guests to stay as long as they want beyond 11 am deadline, or even as many nights as they wish, up until the room is needed again. The ‘overstays’ will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis at each of the group’s three boutique hotels between December 16 and January 13, 2013.

The Olsen, The Cullen, and The Blackman are each inspired by the work on an individual Australian artist.
