First commercial flight of United’s 787 Dreamliner scheduled for Sunday

  • Skift Take
The Dreamliner is a key part of United’s fleet overhaul, and lots of dollars — and passengers — will be riding on it.

United Airlines won FAA certification to fly the 787 Dreamliner, and the first commercial flight is slated to get airborne on Sunday from Houston to Chicago.

With 36 seats in United Business First, 70 seats in United Economy Plus, and 113 seats in United Economy, plus oversized windows, large overhead bins, and enhanced fuel-emission features, the Dreamliner is hyped as the harbinger of the future of aviation.

The Dreamliner is imposing, both outside (above) and inside, too:

United has already taken delivery of two Dreamliners, with another 48 on order.
