FAA Releases Details of U.S. Airport Improvement Grants for 2014

Yesterday, the FAA released its report of the grants awarded to US Airports for Fiscal Year 2014 as part of its Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Grant and Apportionemnet/Entitlement Data.

In all, the grants total in excess of US $180 Million. Reviewing the largest grants, all awared for runway improvements and extensions, we can gleam interesting insights into the US Airports and destinations which may likely see significant growth over the coming decades.

The largest grant was awarded to Kodiac Airport (ADQ), to the tune of US $51 Million. Other airports to receive substantial grants include:

• San Francisco International Airport (SFO): $45 Million
• Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN): $18 Million
• Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI): $15 Million
• Washinton Dulles International (IAD): $13 Million

Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) in Washinton state was awarded US $8.5 Million for Security Enhancements.
