Aeromexico gets on Dreamliner bandwagon with order for six aircraft

  • Skift Take
Boeing has taken order for more than 800 Dreamliners from 58 customers, including Aeromexico. Incidents involving the aircraft’s electrical systems haven’t seemingly slowed the sales.

Despite several incidents involving the Dreamliner’s electrical systems, Aeromexico went ahead and finalized an order for six 787 Dreamliners from Boeing, with the contract valued at $1.2 billion.

The first delivery is expected to take place in the summer of 2013, and Aeromexico plans to use the mid-size aircraft constructed largely out of composite materials on long-range routes in Europe, Asia and South America, the airline says.

Grupo Aeromexico, which operates an all-Boeing fleet, plans on operating 19 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Aeromexico had committed to order the six Dreamliner in July, but revealed the finalization of the order on December 27.
