Betchel has nearly completed the 11.7-mile rail line and will likely win the bid for the next 11.4 miles, which will include a station at Dulles Airport to finally connect the airport to city center by train.

Bechtel has been selected by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) to submit a proposal to design and build Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. Phase 2 will provide rail service between Washington, D.C., and Washington Dulles International Airport. The company is currently building the first phase of the new rail line and is one of five teams to make MWAA’s short list of Phase 2 bidders.

“Bechtel would be the best choice to design and build Phase 2 because of our successful work designing and building Phase 1, which is both on schedule and within budget,” said George Morschauser, president of Bechtel’s division in charge of civil infrastructure in North America.”We would welcome the opportunity to build the next phase and continue our partnership with MWAA.”
