Windstar Cruises buys three Seabourn ships and doubles its fleet

  • Skift Take
The purchase is a mega-move for Windstar, and the Seabourn ships’ sizes, with berths for 150 to 300 passengers, fit in nicely with the small-ship Windstar experience.

In one fell swoop, Windstar Cruises will double its fleet, while Seabourn’s fleet will halve after Windstar’s parent company reached an agreement with Seabourn to purchase three of its ships.

Xanterra Parks & Resorts, which operates Windstar, will purchase the entire Pride class of ships from Seabourn, including Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Legend and Seabourn Spirit. Nicknamed Global Windstar, the expansion project doubles the size of Windstar’s yacht fleet, giving the line a total of 1,230 berths.
