SkiftUX: Denmark’s Billund Airport the first to roll out print-at-home baggage tags

  • Skift Take
Security concerns in bigger airports may not let them happen here, but surely a next logical step to online check-ins, right? IATA’s putting its weight behind such efforts, to there’s hope.

Billund Airport in Denmark has become the first airport in the world to allow passengers to print their own baggage tags and boarding cards at home before they come to the gateway.

The tags are printed onto a standard A4 sheet of paper, and then folded according to the instructions and inserted in a plastic cover (available free of charge at the airport), which is then secured to the bag. The passenger can then use the dedicated ‘Express drop’ desks to check in their baggage.
