The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted every hotel company, from the top chains to small hotel operators. But as the industry takes its first steps to begin re-opening, there are plenty of questions about how to do so safely, efficiently, in a way that continues to ensure a positive guest experience.

Oracle Hospitality Skift Hotel Summit

It was with these questions in mind that Skift held its “Travel’s Path Forward: Hotels” Summit to address some of the industry’s biggest concerns. The event featured Skift editors and research analysts, along with leaders from across the hospitality sector in an online conversation about how hotels can build a strategy to address the many recovery challenges that lie ahead.

One of the biggest questions on the minds of hotel owners and operators today is the development of best practices for re-opening hospitality properties. As markets around the world begin to recover, these businesses face difficult decisions about cash flow, how to re-train staff, procedures used to keep guests and employees safe, and how they might use technology to streamline recovery operations and improve the guest experience.

To help think more strategically about these questions, Skift and Oracle partnered earlier this spring on a global research study to understand the top recovery issues on the minds of hotel executives and travelers. In this video conversation we hear from Alex Alt, senior vice president and general manager of Oracle Hospitality speaking with SkiftX research editor Jeremy Kressmann, about how Oracle is working to help the hospitality sector during this crisis, along with a summary of survey findings from the companies’ soon-to-be-released recovery report.
