Skift Take

We're not sure that there's more of a market for flash sales now than there was in 2013, but we do know that expectations are vastly lower. And we know that Secret Escapes is now the only real player with this deal, its own site, and a similar agreement with, ironically, Jetsetter.

Gilt.com, the shopping site for clothing and accessories, has launched a new site for travel, GiltTravel.com.

GiltTravel.com provides travel flash sales on upscale hotel stays at up to 70 percent off.

Gilt.com’s previous foray into travel, called Jetsetter.com, was sold to TripAdvisor in 2013.

Content for the new travel site comes from Secret Escapes, a flash sales site specializing in discounted rates for four- and five-star lodging including luxury and boutique hotels, resorts and inns.

You must become a member to browse listings or book stays using the Gilt Travel site, but anyone can sign up for free. Stays range from a historic chateau in Cognac, France, to a Manhattan hotel for as little as $100 a night to deals for spas, cruises, ski lodges and golf getaways around the world.
